Typing workflows
Choose a Sinhala Typing Workflow
Choose a workflow by where you type and which encoding the recipient needs. MyFonts.lk is developed by Pasan Anushanga; this guide describes our tool and general alternatives, rather than an independently tested ranking of competing products.
Quick browser conversion
A web converter such as MyFonts.lk suits occasional desktop use, shared computers, and visible Unicode-to-Legacy workflows. It needs no keyboard installation and makes it easy to copy reviewed output into Word, email, or design software.
System-wide and mobile typing
An operating-system input method or trusted mobile keyboard is better for typing directly in many applications. Check whether it supports your preferred phonetic mapping, candidate words, current OS version, and privacy requirements.
Offline Windows work
SinKey is the paid offline Windows tool offered here. Downloading its installer does not grant an activated licence. Review the release information and test your intended document workflow. An offline typing tool does not make online payments or licence activation work without a connection.
Voice and specialist workflows
Voice typing is fastest for drafts but requires careful proofreading. Legacy publishing needs exact font-and-encoding compatibility. For new searchable content, make Unicode the source of truth and produce Legacy output only when the receiving workflow explicitly requires it.
Choose by task
| Task | Workflow | Check before using it |
|---|---|---|
| A short email or web post | Browser Singlish → Unicode | Proofread the words and copy Unicode. |
| Typing directly in many apps | System keyboard or local typing tool | Supported OS, layout, permissions, and activation. |
| Existing FM print document | Exact FM font and encoded text | Font family, character mapping, and punctuation. |
| A spoken draft | Voice recognition | Browser support, audio processing, and transcript errors. |
Reproduce our converter checks
On 6 October 2026, the shared MyFonts conversion engine passed automated checks for all sixteen input/output routes using the phrase මම අපි. These are checks of our engine, not of competitors or every possible word. Use the keymap for exact spellings and compare names, long vowels, punctuation, and joined letters before committing to a workflow.
For another product, consult its current official documentation and try the same source text. A marketing comparison is not evidence of accuracy.
